I know it's inspirational Sunday, and most of you won't be able to start your week without my words of encouragement....Unfortunately, I'm going to have to disappoint you all. But what can I say?

a gypsy says what?

well, last night was awesome. Ash threw the best Halloween party that I've ever been to, and from the moment I arrived, there was nothing but surprises. From meeting Mary the Man Woman, finding a dead Fred in the bathroom, later feeling his intestines, telling fortunes, and the many, many other interesting things that happened over the course of the night, last night ranks a 10 on my awesome scale. Plus, I finally got to meet Snooki!!!
After the amazing night, I went to sleep and had a dream. In it, I said something that I will have to remember to say again, so that's why I'm blogging about it. In my dream, I was still a gypsy, and I was with all of my friends in a large group of people. I started to wander off, but told my friends, "Don't worry- if I get lost, just follow the trail of glitter!"
I had copious amounts of glitter on last night, so this quote was very fitting. I left glitter everywhere I went. So much that Snooki was shaking my hair on her to get it, and I was also banned from the blue couch.

The gypsy was very popular last night. So popular that someone else also blogged about her today. Check it out: http://enviousmidget.weebly.com/3/post/2010/10/fred-might-be-dead-but-at-least-i-got-my-palm-read-by-a-gypsy-thats-a-10.html

Now, I must prepare for yet another day of being a gypsy.

who am i?!

Last night, I actually went to bed before midnight. And as if that wasn't bad enough, I was up before 8am! I then proceeded to eat breakfast (!) and decided that I was going to go the gym. What is going on here? I bet it has something to do with the frogs....hmm.
It was thought by a friend via my facebook status that this might be a halloween costume- an older version of myself. It then occurred to me, that I must have somehow switched into the bizarro world. I think I might have stumbled into some sort of bizarro world vortex when I finally cleaned my room. (Because only the bizarro Laura would actually clean her room) This got me wondering, if the bizarro Laura is the clean, responsible one, does that mean she is the good one? This would leave normal Laura as the evil one....well, I guess that works. I am trouble, after all.

Also, this comic was kind of fitting for my desire to go to the gym this morning.

Happy Friday!

thankful thursday- fat girl style

As much as I miss living in California, there are some things about the south that I absolutely love. One of them being the food here. We will deep fry anything with a stick of butter, and if it's supposed to be sweet, it's going to be sweet, daggum it. Also, you can't find things like livermush, sweet tea, sundrop, cheerwine and  bojangle's anywhere other than the south.
Don't get me wrong, I like to eat healthy, but it gets pretty boring eating tofu and boca burgers all of the time. Plus, now that I've been back, I don't think I could ever go without good ol' southern cookin' again. Now, it definitely has its repercussions, as I weigh more now than I ever have, but it's acceptable to be a little pudgy here. "More cushion for the pushin" as some might say. So for thankful thursday, I'm going to be a fatty and say that I'm thankful for southern food.

mmm, foam.

word of the week-glower

This week's word is brought to you by the letter "G"!

Glower: To look or stare angrily or with a scowl

has this ever happened to you?

Now, I'm not a fan of this act, because as many of you know, "I just like to smile. Smiling's my favorite!"
But it seems that there are some days when even I feel as if everyone is glowering at me. Yes, even AWESOME-O has these days, and even with my super-ability to be super-awesome and all that other junk, it still gets to me a little when I have days like that. So next time you encounter a day filled with glowering people, and it gets you down, remember AWESOME-O's motto: "When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead." And yes, I know I've used this quote before, and I'm sure I will use it again...that's just what happens with great quotes.
Another tactic I like to use when people are giving me angry stares is to picture something funny that I've seen before to replace their faces. Here are a few pictures to help you get started:

satanic wet cat becomes....

fat, fluffy couch potato cat!

stern jack nicholson becomes....
a less-scary jack nicholson- the joker!

mean fat baby becomes....

super cute, talented baby who drinks beer. awww.
scary boxer becomes...

...whatever the heck this is!

Now that you know how to defeat a day of glowering, go out and use these powers to fight off negativity everywhere. And remember, the best way to get someone to stop giving you mean glares is to smile at them. If necessary, make it an insane smile (like Tracy) and even add some maniacal laughter in as well. If nothing else, they will think you are crazy and leave you alone!

lame song title survey.

I used to do these silly surveys all the time on myspace when I would procrastinate doing homework. aannnd, I'm a little bored and I don't feel like being creative and writing about anything else tonight, so I'm taking a trip down memory lane and adding new answers to this.

RULES:
1. Put Your mp3 player on Shuffle
2. For each question, press the next button to get your answer.
3. YOU MUST WRITE THAT SONG NAME DOWN NO MATTER HOW SILLY IT SOUNDS

IF SOMEONE SAYS "IS THIS OKAY?" YOU SAY: Holiday in the Sun (Sex Pistols)

WHAT WOULD BEST DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY? Summertime (Mae)

WHAT DO YOU LIKE IN A GUY/GIRL? Whatever it is (Zac Brown Band)

HOW DO YOU FEEL TODAY? I'm Lost Without You (Blink-182)

WHAT IS YOUR LIFE'S PURPOSE? I Love College (Asher Roth). hahaha

WHAT DO YOUR FRIENDS THINK OF YOU? The Best of Times (Styx)

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR PARENTS? Old Time Rock and Roll (Bob Seger)

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT VERY OFTEN? Free Falling (Tom Petty)

WHAT IS 2+2? Headknocker (Foreigner)

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR BEST FRIENDS? Rumble on Rose(Grateful Dead)

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE PERSON YOU LIKE? Disguising Mistakes with Goodbyes (Emery)

WHAT IS YOUR LIFE STORY? Everywhere and in Between (Anberlin)

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP?  Another Brick in the Wall (Pink Floyd)

WHAT DO YOU THINK WHEN YOU SEE THE PERSON YOU LIKE? Sweetness (Jimmy Eats World)

DANCE TO AT YOUR WEDDING? You Belong to Me (Doobie Brothers)

WHAT WILL THEY PLAY AT YOUR FUNERAL? Up the Cuts (Against Me!)

WHAT WAS YOUR INTEREST AND HOBBIES? Beside the Yellow Line (Avett Brothers)

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST SECRET? Good Times Bad Times (Led Zeppelin)

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR FRIENDS? Next in Line (Conway Twitty)

* this was actually kind of interesting to do. and it's just proving that I have awesome taste in music. peace and blessings!

pretty girl at the airport

This is one of my favorite Avett Brothers songs, "Pretty Girl at the Airport"

Wish me luck I know you think I'll need it
For all the hardest roads we have to walk alone
And you don't have to tell me that you love me
For all the words I've never understood
I know, I know

The wind that blows from here to California

Never stops to turn and wonder why it goes
And you don't have to tell me when you're leaving
For all the plans I've never understood
I know, I know

Leave now while you can

I'm not your man
I know, I know

To have your things and wait there for a plane ride

No one there to sit and hold your hand in flight
But everyone I know out here is lonely
Even those that have someone to lie beside at night

Leave me with the dawn

It's almost gone
I know, I know
Leave now while you can
I'm not your man
I know, I know

thankful thursday

Last night, I received one of the best surprises ever. (next to my surprise party, of course).... I "greater than 3 it" and no, you can't "barrie" it.
yes, it's the live volume 3 on dvd- be jealous.

So for thankful Thursday, I have to say that I am thankful for an awesome person in my life ....*drum roll please*....- Jonathan! Yes, Jon Pie- this one's for you.
Now, I've only known him for a few months, but he has been one of the greatest and most genuine friends I've ever had.
He is actually the one responsible for me starting this blog, so it's only natural that I eventually dedicate an entry to him.
His blog is pretty awesome too. If you haven't had the chance to check it out yet, here it is: http://enviousmidget.weebly.com/

And for those of you who haven't had the chance to meet him yet, you are missing out. I mean, who else would color-coordinate clothes with me?
actually, this was a total coincidence. but still funny.

Word(s) of the Day

I felt bad for missing last week's word, so I have decided to try to redeem myself by doing 2 words today. This week (and last week) is brought to you by the letters "E" and "F"!

Enervate: To deprive of vigor, force, or strength; to render feeble; to weaken.

Fatuous: Inanely foolish and unintelligent; stupid.

jeepers creepers!

A friend of mine sang this to me today, and it's been in my head ever since- "jeepers, creepers....where'd you get those creepers? Jeepers, creepers, where'd you get those guys?"
If you have ever been out in public with me, you know that I tend to get creeped on. A lot. It's something that I've dealt with for quite some time now, and have naturally gotten accustomed to. But, there are still some cases of creeper-ism that even I have a hard time getting over. The instance that I am referring to has completely thrown me for a loop, and has me questioning my faith in man-kind and whether or not all people are in fact absolutely insane.
Situations like these always cause me to revert back to one of the first cases I can remember about a creeper that I actually got a good laugh about- It was my 22nd birthday, and I was in downtown SLO with my friends at DTB. There was a guy there that was talking to me, that I had absolutely no interest in, and one of my friends (MLH) insisted that I take a picture with him. Of course, I tried to refuse, but she snapped a picture just as I was trying to get away from him. Later, another good friend (SDS) commented on the picture, saying that it looked like he had just whispered in my ear "I'm going to rape you". We all laughed about this for days, and I still can't look at this picture without cracking up.

Then I stumbled across this picture online, which made it even funnier:

So from now on, when I have a creeper situation, I'm going to try to make the most of it. Because after all, creeper stories make fun stories!

Moody Monday- brought to you by DB's!

yes, that's right, this edition of Moody Monday is brought to you by DB's around the world. If you are one, chances are you are unaware of it, so please, consult with a friend to see if this applies to you. And when they tell you that yes, in fact you are a DB, please do us all a favor and either jump off a bridge or at least move to Detroit.

also, I just liked this a lot:

Everybody's workin for the weekend

Wow, what a week! As stated in my previous entry, things have been pretty busy, and seem to continue that way. And I must say, I really like it! It does seem like the weekends are far better than the weekdays though. It reminds me of that Loverboy song, you know- workin' for the weekend

A friend of mine informed me of a special occurrence this october will be having, and I found it quite interesting.

So go out and enjoy the rest of your weekend.... I know I will :)

it's better than bad, it's good!

well folks, I have had a busy, yet awesome week, and I can officially say that even though it's only 3pm on saturday, I'm already exhausted. It seems as if I have been going non-stop since Wednesday- from cooking out and suiting up, the lincolnton 3d movie adventure, homecoming game, and apple festival, and not to mention countless movies in between, my friends have worn me out this week! *cue inappropriate "that's what she said" joke.* But I couldn't be happier, and I'm loving every minute of it. So before I get ready for a fun night of laser tag and bowling with the youth, I will leave you with a quote from one of my favorite childhood shows, Ren and Stimpy. And once again, I will post the link for those of you who will have no clue what this is from, so you can join in on the laughter.

funny friday! snl style

For funny Friday, I happened to stumble across a picture that reminded me of one of my all time favorite SNL skits. So my friends, I hope you enjoy this as much as I do, and be sure to click on the link to get the full effect. Hope you have a fantastic Friday!

Harry: Hey! If you were a hot dog...and you were starving, would you eat yourself?
Colin: What?
Harry: I know I would! First, I'd smother myself with brown mustard and relish. I'd be so delicious!...So would you?
Colin: I don't know.
Harry: Don't jerk me around, Norm! It's a simple question! A baby could answer it! If you were a hot dog, and you were starving, would you eat yourself? [some applause and cheers]
Colin: I guess so.
Harry: Oh, you made a wise choice, my friend! If you had said no, I would have bitten your ear off! I would have come at you like a tornado made of arms and teeth. And - and fingernails

Thankful Thursday

So I'm sitting here trying to finish this blog at my friend's house, and I have to admit, I'm pretty distracted. I can't tell if it's the ADD rubbing off on me, or the fact that there are stuffed animals flying through the room. Anyway, through the bickering, and making fun of a certain individual in the room, I've gotten my inspiration for tonight's entry. So, I would like to say I'm thankful that I have awesome friends! They make me laugh when I've had a bad day, and we can make fun of each other without limits. Or as one of my friends would say, "I drew the line, went past it, drew another, then crossed that one!"
We've done everything together, from suiting up, watching awesome shows and movies together, running in the rain, walking with zombies, surprise parties, singing karaoke, and many other things that other people only wished they could do with their friends.
We also can make fun of each other's accents, like when someone says I need to "barrie" something. Also, the always popular "that's what she said" jokes.
And it seems like I'm not going to be able to concentrate, I'm going to have to end this now. So, if you don't have awesome friends like me, then it sucks to be you!

stay warm with a snuggie

yesterday, my friends and I got on the topic of snuggies, and I am starting to realize that I am one of the only people that actually likes them. I love my snuggie! With as cold as my dad keeps our house, it became essential to stay warm. Now, I'm not one of these people who are going to be seen wearing it in my car, or a football game, but there's a slight possibility that I might eventually be spotted with it on while doing the macarena at home. Just sayin'. I also really like singing the theme song while wearing it, dancing around the house. True story- ask my mom. I think ya'll are just a bunch of haters, who can't hang with the snug life.

Another underestimated article of clothing that keeps you warm are onesie pajamas with butt-flaps. check this out:

Soon, the weather will be getting colder, I just wanted to make sure everyone was preparing properly. Who cares if you look ridiculous? I mean, take the kid from A Christmas Story for example. He's warm, could double as a punching bag, and has the option of rolling home if he gets tired of walking!

zombie waldo!

Ok, Ok- I know, I missed yesterday's entry. But it's easily excusable because my reason was that I spent my day hanging out with Waldo, getting attacked by, then becoming a zombie and wandering the streets of Asheville. Also, to prove my dedication, I attempted to submit an entry last night from my ipod, but between almost dying from starvation and exhaustion, being distracted by dancing zombies, and the horrible wifi connection, I was unable to post it in time.
Now, some of you know what a rough time I had last week, but yesterday totally made up for it.
Also, I'm afraid the zombies got Waldo. poor guy. leave it to him to get spotted by a zombie.

say what?!

While at the "internet cafe" last night, there was a show on that made me remember how much I hate puppets.  They fall into my category of things that freak me out, labeled under "things that talk but shouldn't". So instead of an actual quote today, I am going to show you a few things that talk, but shouldn't. And be forewarned- if you show up in my room in the middle of the night with a puppet, I will decapitate it with my machete.

seriously! why do people like puppets?!

Chucky is the main reason I hate puppets. and dolls.
birds fall under a different category of things that freak me out, but parrots fall under 2 categories because they talk. the only way parrots are ever acceptable is if you're a pirate.
i'm sorry, mr.ed. you're cute, but quadrupeds shouldn't talk.

carrot top falls under sooo many categories in things that freak me out, so i'm just going to say he needs to stop talking.

i'm not necessarily freaked out by the view, but they are definitely things that talk, but shouldn't.

Word of the Week- Didactic

This week's word is brought to you by the letter "D"!

Didactic: Fitted or intended to teach; conveying instruction; instructive; teaching some moral lesson.

I feel this word is very fitting for my life this week, as I have had to make several tough choices, and therefore have learned a lot of life lessons. Going into detail would get too personal for a blog, so I will share some lyrics and a link to a song that has been on my mind today.

I took my love, I took it down
Climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
Till the landslide brought me down

Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changing ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?

Well, I've been afraid of changing
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older and I'm getting older too

say what?!

earlier this week, me, ash and brent were having lunch at wild wok. it was awesome because they had all 3 of our favorites as lunch specials... coincidence? maybe. but then the fortune cookies came. and i got one that was completely generic and had no relevance to my life whatsoever. now, i'm a big fan of fortune cookies, and lately, i've left the majority of my life decisions up to them. so you can understand my disappointment when the one i received was a dud. so on my way out, i asked for another one. when i opened it, it said:
"You will enjoy doing something different this coming weekend"
So, I guess I will go out and do something different! have a great weekend, kids.
