goodbye 2010

well, I started this year off by making yet another move, and ended up back here in NC. At first, I had wondered if I had made the right decision, but after the way my year has turned out, I am 100 percent sure that I made the right choice.
I'm extremely happy with where I ended up- I have a great job that I love, awesome friends, an amazing boyfriend, a loving family, and a supportive church....along with many other things- needless to say, I'm blessed!!

I'm very excited to see what 2011 is going to bring, but for now, I need to end 2010 with style: I'll be ringing in the new years in my favorite city, watching my favorite band, with my favorite person by my side....Doesn't get much better than that!

Happy New Years!

Christmas around the world.

Although it's been said many times, many ways, Merry Christmas to you!
Now you can learn some of the other ways to say it....Who knows- maybe you'll run into an Albanian in the airport, and you'll thank me for the gift of how to say Merry Christmas in different languages.

¡Feliz Navidad! - Spanish (obviously)
Crăciun fericit!- Romanian
  1. Fröhliche Weihnachten!- German
  2.

    Wesołych Świąt-  Polish
Gëzuar Krishtlindjet- Albanian
  1. Joyeux Noël!- French

Veselé Vánoce- Czech
Feliz Natal- Portuguese
Sretan Božić- Croatian
Buon Natale!- Italian
Nadolig Llawen- Welsh
Mutlu Noeller- Turkish

And, yes, I checked- all of the countries above celebrate Christmas!

Here are some awesome pictures I found from people celebrating Christmas around the world:

Sydney Harbor, Australia

The Bird's Nest- Beijing, China

Bavarian Highlanders in Schoenau, Germany

Beirut, Lebanon

Concorde Place- Paris, France

School children in Thailand

Cathedral of Virgin Mary- Moscow, Russia

awesome house in Melksham, England

Buckhan Mountain, South Korea

Palestinian scouts outside the Church of Nativity in Bethlehem

sand sculpture in India

US Air base in Afghanistan

Christmas tree at Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.

Now, I must go so I can have an awesome breakfast at aunt Sharon's, then I am meeting the rest of Jonathan's family today- should be a good day :)

I hope everyone has a safe and very Merry Christmas!!

word of the week- oblivious

This week's word is brought to you by the letter "O"!
***Blogger is being weird about uploading images, so check back later for the sign language pic***

oblivious

uh-BLIV-ee-us  adjective;
1. Lacking all memory; forgetful.
2. Lacking active conscious awareness or knowledge; unmindful

I began writing this blog on Wednesday and forgot about it. How appropriate!
There are a lot of things I could go on and on about when it comes to people
being oblivious. My boyfriend, for example, is very sweet, but he is often
very clueless. Perhaps now I can start calling him oblivious to mix it up a
little :)

I'm also a very forgetful person. If I don't physically write something down,
set an alarm, and get a physical reminder, chances are I'm going to forget
what I'm supposed to do. Most people know this about me, so they don't
take it personally when I forget something. So, for those of you who didn't
know, now you do, so take it easy on me when I forget something.

oops! I did it again (again)

Well, it's official- I've become far too busy to be able to promise a daily dose of trouble....but it's ok, because it's for a good cause. You see, I'm busy because of my new work schedule: 7am-noon and 3-6pm with my class of 13 three year olds. And, I couldn't be happier. I love these kids more than a fat kid loves cake. and yes, I'm aware that that joke is very old, but I feel it's appropriate for my given situation.

I'm very sad that I won't be able to post something daily, but I will do my best to share when I have the chance, even if it's just a silly picture or random ramble I have.

I would love to be able to keep up the word of the week segment, so I will do my best to keep that going, but no promises that it will be on Wednesday of every week.

Anyway, my horoscope was very interesting today, so I thought I would share it:
"Don't let negative thinking get you down; criticism on it's own sake is a waste of time. Ignore the negative, jealous remarks of others who would rather see you give up. "
Hmmmm, seems very fitting of the current situation I've been going through.

...well, I'm afraid I'm out of time for today, so I must end this now.

peace and blessings, peace and blessings.

I can haz gooder grammar?

For Thankful Thursday this week, I would like to say that I am thankful for people who use proper grammar. I know that these days people like that are few and far between. Now, I'm not talking about the occasional honest mistake- because I know I get in a hurry sometimes and make mistakes. I'm referring to the people who do it on a daily basis- especially on Facebook. Nothing irritates me more about Facebook than reading statuses and every other word is misspelled and/or they are using poor grammar. It's bad enough that I am having to suffer through being part of the "txtng" generation, where everything is abbreviated, but as a result of that, it seems no one knows how to speak properly anymore. Now, I'm not a grammar Nazi by any means, it just annoys me slightly....but I have my connections. :)

Oh, and I know I'm guilty of using LOL, but I just thought this was pretty funny.

Word of the week- multifarious

This week's word is brought to you by the letter "M"!

multifarious:

 muhl-tuh-FAIR-ee-uhs  adjective;
Having great diversity or variety; of various kinds; diversified

I've been trying to find a word that describes me, and this one seems to fit. I get made fun of for having so many different interests, and often people wonder how I can go from being a dork and playing video games, to reading classic literature, to playing my guitar, to making a scrapbook page (lately, it's just been cards though) to writing a blog,  along with my many other interests all in a few hours time span. Now I have my answer: I'm multifarious! I can't help that a lot of different things interest me, I've always been that way. I used to just tell people that my interests were teasingly diverse, and make some joke about it, but now I have an actual word that describes me!
Now, go be multifarious!

In a fairy-tale world....( I would have time to do my blog every day)

Once upon a time, there was a girl who was too lazy to do her blog entry for the day. So instead, she decided to B.S. her was through a story in an attempt to fill up space and give all her readers something to entertain them for a brief amount of time.
She normally thinks of herself as being somewhat witty, but most of the time, she just has a case of random rambles. Now, this is usually enough to help her through her daily blog entries, but lately, she has had her time taken up by much more important things.
She hopes the followers of her blog understand, and that even if it's just a picture, or something random, that they appreciate a daily posting. And if they can understand, then we can all get along and live happily ever after. The End.

thankful thursday- mush edition

Ok, so I know that I've already done a Thankful Thursday segment on this person, but he's so awesome that he's going to get another one. Last time, I was thanking him for being a great friend. This time, I get the privilege to thank him for being an amazing boyfriend. So, Jonathan, this is yet another one for you.

We've had a rough couple of days, and I don't know how either one of us would have been able to get through things without each other. It's such a great feeling to know that I have someone that I can count on no matter what. Now don't get me wrong, I have several other people that I know I can always come to for help no matter what- even if I've messed up.

While I was listening to some Avett Brothers earlier, this song really spoke to me:

All My Mistakes- The Avett Brothers

Shooting off vicious collections of words
The losers make facts by the things they have heard
And I find myself trying hard to defend them

I made decisions some right and some wrong
And I let some love go I wish wasn't gone
These things and more I wish I had not done

But I can't go back
And I don't want to
'Cause all my mistakes
They brought me to you

I have some "friends" they don't know who I am
So I write quotations around the word friends
But I have a couple that have always been there for me

I have messed up quite a bit in my life, hence my nickname of "trouble", but I'm glad that I did, because it brought me to where I am today. I have a great family, who even though they drive me nuts sometimes, I know I can count on them. My friends are the best, hands down. And to top it off, I have a pretty awesome boyfriend who has shown me unconditional love.Between all the amazing people in my life (past and present) I'm happy to say that even if I had the chance, I wouldn't go back and change a thing... Come to think of it, this post is more about being thankful for my life and all the people in it. And chances are, if you are reading this, you are included in that list. So this goes out to all of you: I LOVE YOU!!!

word of the week- loquacious

This week's word is brought to you by the letter "L"! (yeah, that's right- you should all be able to sign nearly half of the alphabet by now)

Loquacious:

loh-KWAY-shuhs adjective

1.Very talkative.

2.Full of excessive talk; wordy

The letter L is my favorite letter of the alphabet for some reason, so I thought it would only be appropriate to have a word that directly reflects my personality.
My mom always tells me that once I learned to talk I started and never stopped. I'm pretty sure the first time I ever heard someone say "shut up" was from my mom telling me to stop talking. What can I say? I love to talk. I'm full of stories, and even if I've already told you it once, I'm going to tell you again. That's the main reason I started a blog... otherwise, I would drive everyone insane with my random rambles.
I have been fortunate enough to have a few people in my life that actually handled the random rambles pretty well. And if you have talked with me on the phone on a regular basis, you are more awesome than words can describe and deserve some sort of award for your patience.
The only problem with being a "Chatty Cathy" is that when I am not talking excessively, people think something is wrong. Lately, when this happens, I respond with "I'm tired", which apparently has become my new catch phrase. In my defense, I haven't had a lot of free time lately, so I am tired most of the time. But, I think I am finally adjusting to it. So watch out- LD is back. and I might even find LaDasha again soon.
