I'm also excited to say that I will be traveling to SLO in September for Kaelah's birthday and will get to see more of my girls.

sock monkeys & the Grinch

This past Christmas, I bought my boyfriend a sock monkey. And please don't take that the wrong way....he's been wanting one for a while now. Anyway, he had become quite the travel companion, and we took him along on road trips with us. But for whatever reason, Jonathan left him at my house, and he's been here for a few weeks now. The poor guy was forgotten about when we took our trip to the Whitewater center, and then again this past weekend when we went to Atlanta. Feeling depressed, he turned to his girlfriend, who despite their long distance relationship, he still loves very much.
Here's the happy couple on a roadtrip to Asheville

It was then that he found out the truth- She's been cheating on him with the Grinch. Which, I don't agree with cheating, but she gets left behind taking care of the children while Sock Monkey gets to go out and have fun. The cheating had been suspected, but was truly confirmed with the birth of a green sock monkey baby.

The shock of the news only made his depression worse, and he reached next to him and picked up the pop gun (which Jonathan left here too). Not realizing that he was made of stuffing and the gun was merely a toy, it did nothing but left him laying stunned on my bed.

Now, I'm not quite sure what the point of this story is, but I think it's obvious that my boyfriend leaves too many of his toys at my house.

Bigfoot spotted in NC!

I saw this news article recently, and I couldn't help but laugh.
http://www.11alive.com/News/Odd/184267/186/Bigfoot-spotted-in-North-Carolina-man-claims

As I read this, I was thinking 2 things... #1: People from the south are crazy. This man from Shelby found Bigfoot, and this man from Salisbury said there was an alien invasion: http://www.kcbd.com/story/14273142/north-carolina-man-claims-dr-phil-warning-of-alien-invasion-as-reason-for-speeding?clienttype=printable&redirected=true

#2: WHY can no one ever get a good picture of Bigfoot? Does it just so happen that everyone that ever spots him has a crappy camera? I mean, with all the advancing technology, even basic cell phones have high resolution cameras on them with the capability of zooming in without distorting the picture too much. I mean, come on! I wanna see what this guy looks like up close!
As I was pondering these thoughts, I began to look up some stuff on Bigfoot that I thought was pretty funny.
So for any of you who believe in him, please go find him and make sure you have a good enough camera to get a decent picture of him.

hmm, maybe they were both right!

spiders and underwear dancing

WHY do spiders love to hide in my shower, only to appear when I pick up the shampoo bottle, scaring me when I'm at my most vulnerable?? Well, I think I may have the solution... I'm going to call it the "anti-spiders hiding in my shower dance". How did I come up with this dance? Good question. You see, I stumbled upon it the other day- I was getting ready and "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" came on my itunes, causing me to dance around my room in my underwear. And that just happened to coincide with the ONLY day this week that a spider hasn't been hiding out to scare me in my shower. Another benefit of this remedy? It caused me to have an awesome day. So there you have it folks, it's been proven- dancing in your underwear not only keeps spiders out of your shower, but is also a guaranteed good day.*

Now, many of you remember my tales of Shelob's baby from last year, and I definitely do not want another mishap like that to happen again, so I will be trying my new remedy from now on.

<3 LD

*If you do not have a good day or if spiders appear in your shower after trying this remedy, LD cannot be held responsible. It just means you are doing it wrong.

Well, it's been a while, so here's a brief summary of what I've been up to: A whole lot of nothing.
But seriously, I had only been better from the flu for about 4 days when BAM! I got sick again. And I'm still not back to 100% but, I think I'll live. So aside from being sick, nothing much worth talking about has happened. Except for this past weekend when Jonathan and I went to see David Bazan and Jimmy Eat World. 100th post?? yes, please!

The day we thought would never come is finally here. I have officially brought 100 doses of trouble into the world! Now, I know some posts have been more interesting than others, but give me a break. It's not as easy as you would think. I know that I got too busy to post daily, but the past few days, I've been fortunate enough to have some extra time so I could post more often. Hopefully this pattern will continue, and I can share my random rambles a little more. Otherwise, I think my poor boyfriend is going to cut his ear off so he doesn't have to listen to my never-ending chatter.

Now you might be wondering what I am going to do to celebrate my 100th post....Well, I'm glad you asked.
First, I'm going to jump up and down at my accomplishment.

wow, that took a lot out of me. I should probably lie back down.
Secondly, I know I'm a dork and all, but I really haven't planned anything special for my 100th posting.
Since I'm still fighting off this flu, I will probably spend it cuddled up with my heating pad and a bottle of water, watching daytime TV. hey, sounds like a party to me.

Happy Birthday, Edgar Allan Poe.

well, thanks to this stupid flu bug I picked up at the end of last week, I've been quarantined to my room since Saturday. Lucky for all of you, my fever is gone, but I'm still contagious. Why is that lucky for you? Because I finally feel good enough to do something, but since I'm stuck in my room, all I can do is my blog. So, I get to bring you some trouble for the day.
Now, I thought about doing a word of the week, but I haven't been able to keep any real food down since Friday, so I don't really have the strength to create a post that has a lot of thought into it.
But, it was brought to my attention that today is Edgar Allan Poe's birthday. And as one of my favorite authors, I thought I would rip off wikipedia and share what I got with all of you in celebration of his birthday.
But before I do, I would like to say:

Oh wait. that's not right.... anyway, here's what I found on Poe for any of you who care:
Edgar Allan Poe (January 19, 1809 – October 7, 1849) was an American writer, poet, editor and literary critic, considered part of the American Romantic Movement. Best known for his tales of mystery and the macabre, Poe was one of the earliest American practitioners of the short story and is considered the inventor of the detective-fictiongenre. He is further credited with contributing to the emerging genre of science fiction. He was the first well-known American writer to try to earn a living through writing alone, resulting in a financially difficult life and career.
He was born as Edgar Poe in Boston, Massachusetts; he was orphaned young when his mother died shortly after his father abandoned the family. Poe was taken in by John and Frances Allan, of Richmond, Virginia, but they never formally adopted him. He attended the University of Virginia for one semester but left due to lack of money. After enlisting in the Army and later failing as an officer's cadet at West Point, Poe parted ways with the Allans. His publishing career began humbly, with an anonymous collection of poems,Tamerlane and Other Poems (1827), credited only to "a Bostonian".
Poe switched his focus to prose and spent the next several years working for literary journals and periodicals, becoming known for his own style of literary criticism. His work forced him to move between several cities, including Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York City. In Baltimore in 1835, he married Virginia Clemm, his 13-year-old cousin. In January 1845 Poe published his poem "The Raven" to instant success. His wife died oftuberculosis two years after its publication. He began planning to produce his own journal, The Penn (later renamed The Stylus), though he died before it could be produced. On October 7, 1849, at age 40, Poe died in Baltimore; the cause of his death is unknown and has been variously attributed to alcohol, brain congestion, cholera, drugs, heart disease, rabies, suicide, tuberculosis, and other agents.
Poe and his works influenced literature in the United States and around the world, as well as in specialized fields, such as cosmology and cryptography. Poe and his work appear throughout popular culture in literature, music, films, and television. A number of his homes are dedicated museums today.

Well, anyway- it's time for me to take some more medicine and sleep some more, woo-hoo!

Happy birthday, Edgar Allan Poe.
that's better.

Love Potion....# 9?

Well, from yesterday's blog, we learned that the word "philter" means a potion, usually a love potion. This word appealed to me, because now I can use it to describe to people how Jonathan got me to fall in love with him. So during my research, I found some interesting things.

Here's how to make love potion tea:

LOVE POTION TEA

1 pinch of rosemary
2 teaspoons of black tea
3 pinches thyme
3 pinches nutmeg
3 fresh mint leaves
6 fresh rose petals
6 lemon leaves
3 cups pure spring water
Sugar
Honey

To make another person fall in love with you, brew this tea on a Friday during a waxing moon (moving from empty to full).

Place all ingredients in an earthenware or copper tea kettle. Boil three cups of pure spring water and add to the kettle. Sweeten with sugar and honey, if desired.

Before drinking, recite this rhyme:

BY LIGHT OF MOON WAXING
I BREW THIS TEA
TO MAKE [lover's name] DESIRE ME.

Drink some of the tea and say:

GODDESS OF LOVE
HEAR NOW MY PLEA
LET [lover's name] DESIRE ME!
SO MOTE IT BE
SO MOTE IT BE

On the following Friday, brew another pot of the love potion tea and give some to the person you want to love you. He or she will soon begin to fall in love with you.

And here's the ever popular Love Potion #9:

LOVE POTION #9
To be performed on the 9th day of the 9th month.

 9 oz. sweet red wine
 9 basil leaves
 9 red rose petals
 9 cloves
 9 apple seeds
 9 drops vanilla extract
 9 drops strawberry juice
 9 drops apple juice
1 ginseng root, cut into 9 equal pieces

By the light of 9 pink votive candles, put these nine ingrediants into a cauldron on the ninth hour of the ninth day of the ninth month of the year.
Stir the potion nine times with a wooden spoon, each time reciting the following:

LET THE ONE WHO DRINKS THIS WINE
SHOWER ME WITH LOVE DIVINE.
SWEET LOVE POTION NUMBER NINE
MAKE HIS/HER LOVE FOREVER MINE.

Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat and let it simmer for nine minutes.
Remove the cauldron from the heat and allow the potion to cool off.
Blow nine times upon the potion, bless it in the names of nine love-goddesses, (see below) and then strain it through a cheesecloth into a clean container.
Cover and refrigerate it untill you are ready to serve it to the man or woman from whom you desire love and affection. (Do not allow anyone other than your beloved to look at,touch, or drink the love potion.)
The nine goddesses: Inanna, Ishtar, Astarte, Hathor, Nephthys, Aphrodite, Venus, Freya, Arianrhod

Hmm, I knew I shouldn't have drank that weird drink Jonathan gave me on Halloween.

Anyway, here's some love potion humor for you:

Well, seeing as how today is 1-11-11, I need to go celebrate by doing something weird.
