black friday!!!

I'm very fortunate that my good friend, Ashley didn't make me go out shopping with her this morning.... Or, I should say at midnight last night. Shopping is one of my least favorite things to do (I know, it's weird) and the thought of getting no sleep, standing in long lines, fighting with huge crowds, and being gone for 8 hours (yes, that's how long she was out!) just doesn't excite me as much as it does others.
Now, Ashley is the queen of bargain shopping, so I'm sure I could have gotten some awesome deals, and probably even some free stuff too knowing her. But, I was pretty content where I was last night, so I'm glad I passed.
And, by being lazy, I got some pretty good deals online and I didn't even have to wake up early, or even get out of bed!
And, as always, here's a comic for Funny Friday.

Thankful thursday- turkey day edition

Happy thanksgiving! We all have so much to be thankful for, and one day a year isn't nearly enough to celebrate all of our blessings, but it's a start...
I am beyond blessed, and I thank God every day for where He has brought me and the amazing things He has been doing in my life.
There are many, many things I have to be thankful for personally, and I plan on continuing to share them on here in my "Thankful Thursday" segments. Unfortunately, I don't have time to post them today- I have to go eat copious amounts of food and spend time with my family and loved ones. I hope everyone has a blessed day!

Here's a little humor for your Turkey Day:
the head, obviously.

Word of the week- Kismet

This week's word is brought to you by the letter "K"!

Kismet: Destiny; Fate.

Do you believe in destiny? I sure do. My life is nothing like I expected it to be, and I'm very glad it's not! The first actual plans I remember having for my life was when I was in high school, and was getting ready to move to California. I had a picture of what my life would be like after I got out there, which I won't get into detail about....Well, as most of you know, my life didn't end up anything like what I had planned! I have no regrets about anything that has happened in my life, because it brought me to where I am today, and made me into the person I am. Without the collection of experiences, people I've met, places I've been, memories I've made, etc, I wouldn't be me. There have been several times when I've been frustrated with myself for decisions I've made, but I'm thankful now that I made them.
Life is a journey, and every decision we make paves the road for our future.

here kitty, kitty

meow! my feeling about cats change rather often, and I have come to the conclusion that the fact that I'm a walking contradiction is to blame. I have mixed feelings for dogs too- it's just that I'm not as picky when it comes to dogs. I don't like small, yippie dogs, but then again, most people with common sense don't. These are the cats I don't like:

inside out ones.

soul-stealers.

demon-possessed ones.

ones that shoot lasers out of their eyes.

ones that are trying to take over the world.

rat cats.

skinless rat cats.

giant cats.

bee cats.

As far as they don't fit any of the above categories, I tend to like cats. While at Petco the other night, there was a rather cute, playful one that I would have taken home in a heart beat. Here are a few examples of cats that I do like:

curious ones.

ones that dress-up as frogs.

ones that look like bunnies.

ones that are tiny enough to fit into teacups.

ones that like to sleep in funny positions.

basically, any sleeping cat is adorable.

and, cats that get along with dogs.

See, I don't completely hate cats....But I still prefer dogs :)

dear monday....

Dear Monday,

I know your existence is inevitable, but you always seem to get here too early. I also know that the price to pay for a great weekend is to have to deal with you, but I'm getting a little annoyed with you lately. Now that the weather is colder, it makes it even harder to get out of bed, so please do something to try to make yourself a little more pleasant. For starters, you could quit ruining my weekends by sneaking up on me so fast. Also, it would be greatly appreciated by all if you could make yourself go by faster. You probably get tired of people saying this all the time, but would it be possible for you to try to be a little more like Friday? I mean, you don't hear many people complaining about Friday....just sayin'.

Love,
Laura

I love my job!

It's thankful Thursday!! Today, I am thankful for my job.
I realize that it's really hard to find a good job (or any job for that matter) these days, and I am absolutely blessed to have one that I love.
I definitely got lucky with this job, and as of yesterday, I got even luckier! I've been praying about finding a second job, since I'm only working part time now, and I was getting a little frustrated about not finding anything. Well,  last week, my boss offered me a full time position... I was hesitant about it at first just because it meant I would have to leave my class, which I didn't really want to do, but it also meant I would be working with the infants. I like babies, and I'm good with them, but after a few 40 hour weeks, I would probably be changing my mind.
So yesterday, my boss approached me again and told me she had been praying about it, and had decided to change some things around.... Basically, I'm going to get full time starting next month (yay!) and I will either be staying in my class, or working with the toddlers, not infants. (double yay!)
Needless to say, I'm very excited!
I love my job!!!

word of the week- jovial

This week's word is brought to you by the letter "J"!

Jovial: Merry; joyous; jolly; characterized by mirth or jollity.

Jollity? hmm, I think I'm going to have to start using that word, I like it.
I thought this word would be appropriate given the time of year. Most of you will know this word already, but what can I say? I'm definitely in the Christmas spirit and am full of jollity.

When you think of the word jolly, most likely, you will think of Jolly Old St.Nicholas, or SANTA!!!!
Santa!!! I know that guy!!!

There's also other cool things with the word jolly-
Take the Jolly Roger for example: it's a pirate flag! how awesome is that?
arrrg! have you seen me booty?

Also, Jolly Ranchers! They are absolute deliciousness.
mmmm

With the word Merry- we automatically think "Merry Christmas!"

But, how many of you thought of this guy?

If you don't know who this is, you should probably stop reading my blog immediately bc chances are I won't like you....unless you are willing to amend your ignorance. (j/k!..or am i???)

This just goes to show you that the word Jovial is awesome in more than one way....and now you are going to associate it with all these other things that have nothing to do with the word other than my randomness!!
